Well, hello friends.

Here is my report regarding my new job as Hy Vee cashier.

Having gone from sitting at a desk for 8 hours a day to standing at a cash register for 8 hours a day, my back has had some adjusting to do. After my first day, my lower back was so sore, it hurt to cough. Ouch. The second day hurt a little less and the third a little less than that and so on. Just had to build up some unused muscles, I’m sure.

My main supervisor’s name is Dolly. I think in the weeks to come you are going to be hearing a lot about Dolly. She’s a character. (And I mean that in a good way.)

I’m busy all the time. Very rarely did more than a minute go by before the next customer stepped into my line to get checked out. Wednesday is Sr. Citizen discount day, so it was extra busy all day.

I was glad when the weekend got here and then disappointed when the weather stayed cold. I managed to take Bubba out for a short ride on Saturday. Sunday was too cold and windy, so I spent the day inside after church reading and trying to get my feet to warm up. Emily was hogging the computer for a mid term paper so I didn’t even get to go to Blog Church!

And now it’s Monday. With the time change, Cody and I had to go for our morning walk in the DARK. I get so irritated with Daylight Savings Time. If you want an extra hour of daylight, people, get up an hour earlier. Bah humbug.

So there you have it – lots of schedule adjusting to do and so on.

I hope you all have a good Monday.

The job sounds like fun. What is Hy Vee ? Is that the name of the store? I love your progression of muscle soreness. It only gets better.

Reminds me of the last horse I rode in may (actually played Polo). I was sore on muscles I didn't even know I had. Happens everytime I ride. You, have probably been riding so long you can't imagine being sore from riding.

Daylight savings is a tough adjustment, I agree. You want more sunlight get up earlier. I tend to naturally get up earlier with the sun. Now I am sleeping in til 7ish.

So are you happy? They say it takes about 90 days before you can truly determine if you made the right decision or not or like a job.

You know what would be a totally cool job? Probably one of the coolest on the planet. I'd would love to be a Starbucks Barista. Have you ever seen one of those guys not happy (sure, they are probably pumped with enough caffiene to wake up an elephant) but they are happy none the less!

I can only imagine, its 6:45. I've been at work about 1.5 hours. Some dude walks in.... he looks like hell. Quietly orders his latte or whatever... I notice his moood and slip an extra shot of expresso in it.. .then I look at him and say.. "This one's on my buddy...have a nice day..."

I am so with you on Daylight Saving time. I read the other day just to pass it into law cost $600,000. That irrated me enough, then I found yet another clock I forgot to "Spring forward'. I'm ready to tell some people where to put the Spring.
Just in case you haven't noticed - I am not in favor of the time change.

Well we're back so you can quit worrying about us. I knew you were.
I know what you mean about changing the routine a little and having the body protest. Just think what it would be like if you weren't a sweet young thing.

Thanks, Mary. Have you quit your dayjob yet?

Momma - sorry to hear about your crappyday. Pass the vodka.

Joe - Do a post about your polo playing! I would love to read that. You're right, I don't get sore riding anymore. I do remember how it was before I had my own horse and I could only ride once in a while and how sore I'd get - yeah that's some serious pain. As to the Happy? question I'll let you know in 80 days or so. For now; so far so good. And I'd buy a coffee from you any day! Bring on the extra espresso!

Ralph; do you remember that joke Paul Harvey used to tell about Daylight Savingstime? If I can remember it well enough or find it somewhere, I'll post it.

Later, everyone. Me & Momma gotta go the liquor store - OOPS!- I mean blogchurch.

Hi Janell -- I'm glad you and your back and feet are adjusting to the new job. Do you wear Tenny shoes? That helps a lot, my foot doctor won't let me wear anything else.
I was worried that you had run off one of those bridges and into the river. Really, it is hard to blog and work. We all appreciate hearing from you when you can spare the time.

And it isn't Monday now either. I stayed up too late, but when you get a spell you can come back and see ONE of the big parks in Houston.

I go to blog church on Saturday night to avoid the crowds.

There you are! :)

Anyone with a name like Dolly is going to be interesting. Can't wait to hear more about your new job!

I used to be a cashier at Home Depot (part-time). There are some tales to tell. If I had it all to do over again, I'd blog about those experiences. Now I always enjoy visiting/flirting/joking with whoever is my cashier. Doesn't matter what store.

Tell Joe he does NOT want to be a Starbucks barista. And don't ask me how I know.

I can't wait to hear the stories.

My boss at my Saturday waitressing job is named Dollie, 'cept I can't write about her since several regulars read my blog. Maybe we can swap Dollie tales here.

I'm glad you've adjusted to your new job.
Maybe it's good that it's busy. It would probably make time go really slowly is it wasn't.
So glad to come by and find some new posts.

This new job must be cutting into your blogging time!

As far as computer contention, I hear you sister! The hubby and I are always angling for a few spare minutes. I've gone so far as to request a laptop hooked up to the WiFi so I can blog when he's busy at the puter!
